Red White Blue Ice Cubes (Printable)

Layered red, white and blue ice cubes with fruit and coconut for a festive touch to summer drinks.

# What You Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
02 - 1/2 cup strawberries, hulled and chopped
03 - 1/2 cup fresh coconut meat or unsweetened shredded coconut

→ Liquids

04 - 1 cup coconut water
05 - 1 cup natural blueberry juice
06 - 1 cup natural strawberry juice or cranberry juice

# How-To Steps:

01 - Wash and prepare all fruits. Chop strawberries and set aside blueberries and coconut.
02 - Fill one-third of each compartment in an ice cube tray with blueberries. Add enough blueberry juice to just cover the fruit. Place tray in freezer for about 1 hour until solid.
03 - Once the blue layer is frozen, add a layer of coconut meat or a sprinkle of shredded coconut onto each section. Pour coconut water into each compartment until the next third is filled. Freeze again for 1 hour until firm.
04 - Top each compartment with chopped strawberries. Fill to the top with strawberry or cranberry juice. Return tray to freezer and freeze until fully solid, about 2 additional hours.
05 - Once fully frozen, remove the ice cubes from the tray. Use to chill beverages of choice for a colorful, festive presentation.

# Helpful Tips:

01 -
  • When these fruity ice cubes melt, your drink gets tastier—no more sad watered-down cocktails.
  • Everyone thinks you spent ages on them, but they’re secretly the easiest party trick I know.
02 -
  • If you rush the layers before freezing, the colors will blend and you’ll get a pretty mess instead of stripes.
  • Using cold juice and coconut water speeds up the freezing time and keeps flavors sharp.
03 -
  • Always taste your juices before pouring—you want vibrant flavor from the freezer.
  • Swap in other berries or juices for any color combo you dream up.
