Bacon Wrapped Asparagus (Printable)

Crispy bacon envelopes tender asparagus spears roasted until golden. Perfect appetizer or side.

# What You Need:

→ Vegetables

01 - 1 lb fresh asparagus spears, woody ends trimmed

→ Meats

02 - 8 slices thin-cut bacon

→ Seasonings

03 - 1 tbsp olive oil
04 - 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
05 - 1/2 tsp garlic powder
06 - 1/4 tsp sea salt

# How-To Steps:

01 - Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
02 - Rinse asparagus under cold water and pat dry. Snap off tough woody ends or trim with a knife. Divide spears into 8 equal bundles.
03 - Place asparagus bundles in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Toss gently to coat evenly.
04 - Wrap each asparagus bundle with one slice of bacon, starting at the tip and spiraling around to the base. Place bundles seam-side down on prepared baking sheet.
05 - Bake for 18-22 minutes until bacon is crispy and asparagus is tender-crisp. For extra-crispy bacon, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end, watching closely to prevent burning.
06 - Transfer to a serving platter using tongs. Serve immediately while hot as an appetizer or alongside grilled meats and eggs.

# Helpful Tips:

01 -
  • The bacon renders its fat while cooking, naturally basting the asparagus until it's perfectly tender
  • These look impressive but come together in under 10 minutes of prep work
02 -
  • Regular cut bacon will stay chewy and undercooked in the middle while the asparagus overcooks
  • Crowding the baking sheet traps steam and prevents the bacon from getting properly crispy
03 -
  • Pat the asparagus completely dry before seasoning to prevent soggy spots
  • Tuck the loose bacon end underneath the bundle to keep it from unraveling in the oven
